I know, i know, it has been decades since I posted a blog. My busy schedule and much running on the road has delayed me quite a bit. Please pray for me as I seek to "down-size" my schedule!!! I know the choir and musicians are saying "yeah, right!" But I promise you I'm striving to do so.

Having said that, I want you all to know I am really serious about cutting back on our outings as a church. But you know that when you are a church as great as Gaines Street Baptist Church, the demands are great, and others are longing for us to come share some of that greatness and anointing at their places of worship. What can we say? To whom much is given much is required. BUT........much is required at home right now!!!! Sometimes you can spend so much time helping other people's church, that your own church starts to lie wasted. Yall feelin me on this?

Therefore, I have made a personal decision that in the year 2009, I probably won't accept many (if any) in-town revivals. If I do, they will have to understand that I won't be available on Wednesday nights! I sooooooo want to grow our bible study. We have been averaging 70-80 people for 5 years now. I think its time for an increase, and in order for that to happen, I am going to have to BE THERE on Wednesdays.

I am also going to TWEAK the Wednesdays night experience in order to give it a new flavor. In an effort to provide relevant ministry for TODAY, the Wednesdays night experience will no longer be known as merely, "Wednesday Night Bible Study", It will be known as our "High Definition Service....."Where we will see and study life in a clear and up-close fashion through the word of God" We will open with praise and worship as usual (really need the praise team to pump this for me). Then we will move to the teaching component, which will be known as the HDTV period (High Definition Teaching with Visuals)

All this will take effect the first week of the year.

Tragic Shooting!

Brothsers and sisters, this is a very sad time for our city. The tragic passing of Bill Gwatney has left us all petrified. What a cruel world we live in. This is proof, once again, that our land is a sick one, and we who are saved need to pray and seek His face all the more. Please join me in prayer for the Gwatneyfamily.

Wednesady Night Bible Study 8-13-08

Hello everyone!

This is just a little info on tonight's bible study lesson. As you know, i am still teaching the series on "The Seven deadly sins". If I remember correctly, I have only covered four of them (pride, covetousness, gluttony, and sloth) If this is not correct, somebody please let me know. (smile)

Tonight I plan to talk about ENVY. As you know, this deadly sin is often refered to as "the green-eyed monster". Of course, we don't have any people in OUR congregation who really need to hear this lesson, because certainly MY DEAR MEMBERS don't practice envy. But since it IS a part of the series, and since I DO need some practice teaching, I will teach it anyway. So just suffer through it with me! (sarcasm intended, LOL)

I hope to see each of you TONIGHT as we study God's word together- 6:30 PM

I am JUST NOW starting to come down from Sunday morning's worship experience! Jesus showed up and showed out as he always does. What a wonderful way to close out the "HOLINESS" series. I am already eager for this Sunday to arrive. As you know, our women will be in charge of the entire worship experience. I ask that each and every member will whisper a special prayer for our own Sis. Sandra Seymour, as she prepares to share the word with us on Women's Day!

Shout out to " The Street"!!! (GSBC) Thank you guys for such a great showing of support this week at Emmanuel's revival. Our praise team was THE BOMB on wednesday night. All praise be to God. We thank God for His Word, which went forth in such a powerful way! Keep me lifted as I try to be all He has called me to be.

Have a Good Friday evening, be safe, and DON'T DO NOTHIN YA CAN'T DO WITH JESUS!!!!!
